A splash of color caught my eye
As it was drawn on high
To a place among the branches
O'er my head
Where sat a Cardinal,
In all his regal glory,
On a crisp, cold day.
Although it was the depth of winter,
Thoughts of spring
Flooded my mind
And my spirit was lifted
Knowing that the buds would soon appear
And the chill grays
Would soon be memory.
