Fred Thompson Campaign Staffing

The staffing of Fred Thompson's campaign organization continues to clarify with each passing day. Tom Collamore who originally set up Thompson's headquarters was temporarily replaced by Randy Enwright several weeks ago. Spencer Abraham was added to the staff in an advisory capacity a couple of weeks ago and now serves as Campaign Ambassador to "official" Washington. Abraham's inside knowledge of Washington as well as his strong pro-life stance will serve well in that position. Today, Thompson announced the addition of "Bill Lacy, a former strategist for Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and Republican National Committee" as his day-to-day campaign manager. I am certain we will continue to see new names come into the fold in an advisory capacity as Thompson continues to "gear-up" for an official announcement which is expected sometime next month.

Fred Thompson is Our Best Chance

The Right is abuzz
All because
They didn't like Fred's choice
To manage the race.

I think if they look
They'll see he threw out the book
And he's running his own
Campaign.

If you consider that Fred
Is already ahead
And hasn't yet
Even declared

And how the left wing
Has started to sing
All the sins of his past
On the air

You might stop and think,
"Would they raise all this stink
If they didn't think he
Was a threat?"

The left-leaning press
Just stirs up the mess
In an effort to
Split up the right.

They press all the hot spots
Tryin' to tie up in knots
The strength of Fred's
Fast growing base.

We should give it some time,
It will all work out fine
For our candidate's
Shrewd like a fox.

He's got the appeal
That can seal up the deal
If we'll trust him
To do what is right.

I know that's a bit tough
Because we've all had enough
Of the Washington
Inside elite.

If we want him to win
We'll just have to give in
And let him do this
His own way.

He's the best that we've got
Because a Democrat is not
Who we want to win
The big race.

Fred has the best chance
Of leading the dance
For a Republican
Victory in oh-eight!

_____________

Fred, if you or your staff happen to see this, you ought to give serious consideration to Kay Bailey Hutchinson as a running mate!

To Fred Thompson

To Senator Thompson,
It’s time for your run.
We need a big change
And we think you’re the one.

The people are calling
For someone to lead;
Another politician
Is not what we need.

We want someone to stand up
For things that are right;
A candidate willing
To put up a fight.

The people are saying
Make borders secure;
Don’t keep dishing
The same old manure.

The war in Iraq
Is something to win;
Not something to cut
And run from again.

Marriage is made for
One woman, one man;
Same sex union
Is something to ban.

Abortion is murder
And that’s a cold fact.
It’s time to outlaw it
Through some legal act.

Social Security is shaky
And needs overhaul
We don’t want our grand kids
Left holding that ball.

Trim out the pork
From each spending bill
Then cut our taxes
And give us a thrill.

Health care is also
In need of redress
So start with correcting
The insurance mess.

We want to see courts
Which are led by good men
Who will rule with discernment
And wisdom again.

We’re tired of the partisan
Political game.
We want to see statesmen
Not those who inflame.

It is a high calling
To lead this great land;
It takes a great man
Who’s willing to stand

And be honest with us
About his belief.
But such a great man
Would be a relief.

We love this country
And know that it’s great.
We’re looking to you, Fred
For a win in oh-eight.

Key Bush backers rally to Fred Thompson

By: Mike Allen

Jun 4, 2007 02:22 PM EST

George P. Bush, a nephew of President Bush, has contributed to the prospective presidential campaign of Fred Thompson and signed an e-mail asking friends and associates to do the same, The Politico has learned.
"In a field of candidates without a clear favorite among our fellow Republicans, my sincere hope is that you consider joining us in this effort....(

For our man Fred
To shake his head
And accept the run
Which won't be fun
But is his fate
In oh-eight!

Let's try again...

The people are grumbling
That we need a leader
To come to the head of the pack.
They're sick of hearing
The same double-dealing
From the candidates out on the track.
It's time for Fred Thompson
To make it official
By announcing his bid for the race.
Based on the level
Of what he's against
He'll surely start in first place.

One Step Closer

We've been waiting for this...

Thompson Forms Presidential Committee

Jun 1 02:26 PM US/Eastern
By LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican Fred Thompson took the first formal step toward a widely expected bid for the presidency, establishing a preliminary campaign committee on Friday.
The "testing the waters" committee allows Thompson—a former Tennessee senator and actor best known for his film and television roles, including as a prosecutor on NBC's "Law & Order"—to raise money, hire staff and gauge support without officially committing to a White House bid and without having to publicly disclose donations or expenditures.
The "Friends of Fred Thompson" committee was incorporated in papers filed with the state in Nashville, Tenn....(view complete article here)

Senator Thompson
It's about time!
We're happy that in accordance with LAW
You're getting the campaign in ORDER.
We like what we've heard about your position
Concerning our sovereign border.

Keep speaking plainly
We like that just fine!
Don't get caught in political speak
But tell right out what your platforms are
On the various issues at hand
Such as abortion, immigration and war.

We're tired of the way
This country has been run!
It's time for you to step forward
And lead with all of your skills.
Perhaps you can bring to an end
All of the pork barrel deals.

Please don't fall
Into political speak!
Let us know what your true values are
The people will think that it's great!
A refreshing campaign that's not stuck in the mud
Will get you elected in oh-eight!

Calculating Voters

Very calculated...

Clinton, Obama vote 'no' on Iraq bill

By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Courting the anti-war constituency, Democratic presidential rivals
Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama both voted against legislation that pays for the
Iraq war but lacks a timeline for troop withdrawal.

"I fully support our troops" but...(for complete story click here)

What a word three letters make.

Calculating from the polls
That their best chance to win
Is opposition to the war
That we have gotten in,
The leading Democrats
Have bowed to the foe
And voted against funding
For our troops and so
In my mind that makes them
Traitors to our troops
Or perhaps at very least
Certified nincompoops.

I think if they could see past
The way the polls are phrased
They'd know that we the people
Are totally amazed
At their stupidity because
What we're really for
Is to win the peace
Just like we won the war.
I hope they keep this up and
They soon will know their fate
Because we the people
Will elect Thompson in Oh-eight!

Fred on Federalism

The article below is from Townhall.com. It is by Fred Thompson and presents his view of Federalism.

Talking about Federalism
By Fred Thompson
Monday, April 23, 2007

My friend, Ramesh Ponnuru, over at National Review and I had a little disagreement over the issue of Federalism.
It might seem a little like "Inside Baseball" but, actually, it deals with something that is of importance to everyone who is concerned about the expanding power of government. Our government, under our Constitution, was established upon the principles of Federalism -- that the federal government would have limited enumerated powers and the rest would be left to the states. It not only prevented tyranny, it just made good sense. States become laboratories for democracy and....

It looks like Fred is for limited Federal Government. The article linked above goes on to discuss the idea that many issues should be left to the states. I think there was a war fought over this idea once upon a time (of course there were other issues involved). This short essay by Senator Thompson encourages me that he may in fact be THE candidate.

Signs of Intelligence, Fred?

I was led to the article below by fellow blogger, "yeah, right, whatever."

Signs of Intelligence?

By Fred Thompson
One of the things that's got to be going through a lot of peoples' minds now is how one man with two handguns, that he had to reload time and time again, could go from classroom to classroom on the Virginia Tech campus without being stopped. Much of the answer can be found in policies put in place by the university itself.

Virginia, like 39 other states, allows citizens with training and legal....

It seems that Fred Thompson (see "Run, Fred -- I Think...") may have the right idea about an armed citizenry. If he "sticks to his guns" (no pun intended) I will be impressed. Hopefully that will be the case.

Run Fred -- I Think...

The more that I read about him the more I like him. The following is an interesting article about him -- you'll need to follow the link --

WASHINGTON — He’s a presidential player cut from Hollywood cloth, but is Fred Thompson more than a stuffed shirt?
Past colleagues and Tennessee supporters think so, but some political analysts say the former senator has more to prove if he’s serious about running for president in 2008.
"I think his support right now might be a mile wide but an inch deep," said political science professor Sean Evans of .....
