Fred Thompson Campaign Staffing

The staffing of Fred Thompson's campaign organization continues to clarify with each passing day. Tom Collamore who originally set up Thompson's headquarters was temporarily replaced by Randy Enwright several weeks ago. Spencer Abraham was added to the staff in an advisory capacity a couple of weeks ago and now serves as Campaign Ambassador to "official" Washington. Abraham's inside knowledge of Washington as well as his strong pro-life stance will serve well in that position. Today, Thompson announced the addition of "Bill Lacy, a former strategist for Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and Republican National Committee" as his day-to-day campaign manager. I am certain we will continue to see new names come into the fold in an advisory capacity as Thompson continues to "gear-up" for an official announcement which is expected sometime next month.

With all do respect my friend. This is one that we must agree to disagree.

This is the one that Fred lost me on, at least for now.

I like Thompson. His campaign seems to be gathering momentum slowly, though. No matter, Iowa and New Hampshire will sort 'em all out.

Hope you're having a great summer and business is good.

I'm back from vacation! We had a great trip. I'm almost done responding to all the commenters on my page. Thanks for your words. I'll be back over here to read some of your work soon!

I wish Fred Thompson would declare. It would give me some hope for 2008, which at the moment looks like nothing more than a prelude to the crowning of Queen Hillary I.

Ranando: I do understand your concerns. I've done quite a bit of research on Abraham and I think the blog world overreacted. His stance on the Middle East appears to be middle-of-the-road with Senate votes that fell on both the pro-Israeli side and the not pro-Israeli side (I hesitate to use the term anti-Israeli because I don't think it fits in this case). I have a hard time with those who blindly vote the Israeli line no matter what it is. Israel could wipe out the problem in a few swift attacks but doesn't do so for humanitarian reasons as well as their image in the world -- although I don't know how it could get much worse for most of the world. Abraham is an Eastern Orthodox Christian -- not Muslim. The Christians in Lebanon are oppressed just like Christians throughout the Muslim world. He has voted for humanitarian aid to Palestinians which some believe was used for militant uses. Whether it was or not doesn't mean he voted to supply weapons to the PLO or Hamas or Hezbollah. He is considered an insider with the military and their suppliers and has voted for arms sales to Israel of weaponry not available to other Middle East countries. In short, his votes on Middle East issues is a mixed bag. On the other hand, his votes on pro-life issues is 100%. Besides, he's not the candidate. He is an advisor. Thompson needs to be advised of all facets of the issues, not just one side. It is where Thompson stands that is the issue. I appreciate your concerns -- and you aren't the only one who has voiced concern -- but I think Abraham doesn't amount to a pimple on a pig when it comes to it. I firmly believe Thompson is the only hope the GOP has of beating Hillary. Because of that reason alone -- even though I don't agree with him on all issues -- I support Fred Thompson for the Presidency.

Well said PP.

I'll try to dig deeper into Spencer.

Thanks for bringing some things to my attention that I didn't kmow.

Whatever it takes to keep Hillary OUT is something I have to support, but Thompson MUST get more forceful, he is, at best, lukewarm, and lukewarm won't win the White House...

I think Sen. Thompson is basically a good man, I just want to hear more commitment in his speaking and less generalities, feint heart ne're won fair lady...

As Dr. Douglas said, Iowa and New Hampshire will sort 'em all out and the strong WILL survive, I hope Sen. Thompson is one of them, minus Spencer 'Open Borders' Abraham...

Texas Fred: I forgot about addressing the "Open Borders" monicker. Abraham is on record for increased immigration quotas -- but strictly legal immigration. He has voted for increased border security on a number of occasions. I don't agree with the increased quotas. I think we need to slow even legal immigration to a trickle.

PP, agreed on a 'trickle', but as long as Abraham is involved, I won't be an adamant supporter of Thompson, I did my own research and came to my own conclusions, and I have NO use for the guy, no matter WHAT Thompson thinks of him...

Much the same as Bush 41 and his choice of a VP, Dan 'WHO' Quayle, Bush may have seen a bright spot, the rest of the world didn't...

Same stuff, different day...
