Some Days

Some days it's hard to know
Whether I'm making progress or not.
It seems that for every step forward
I take two steps back.

Some days it seems
The only progress is in making contact
That perhaps will strengthen a relationship
That with time will grow.

Some days it seems
That there are no right answers
And no wrong answers.
Only choices.

Some days it seems
That all we're doing is sowing
When we want to be reaping.
But it's not time for the harvest.

Some days it seems
That if it wasn't for that one compliment
You would wonder
Why you got out of bed.

Some days it is enough
Just to get through the day
And look back and say,
"At least there were no setbacks."

"At least there were no setbacks." That's my sentiment, too.

Well done.

What a realistic truth. We all like to hear a compliment and we sure don't want any setbacks. Excellent poem.

"One day at a time, sweet Jesus, is all I'm asking of you..." This is a line from a favorite song. It has become my daily mantra.
