A Difference in Viewpoints

"Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude." __ Alexis de Tocqueville

Therein lies the difference between Democrats and Republicans of today.

I agree. Both of them want equality but understand the word in a different manner. It is like a unity in opinion but clash of action. It happens because everybody is unique in its very sense and understand some things in their own unique perspective. But I think the most important factor is both parties wants equality. The difference in viewpoints reminds me that "There will come a time that people will truly understand each other".
