The Old House

A wheat field
Covers the ground where
Once stood
A house.
The house
Was built around
The turn of the last
Century
From cast blocks
Hauled by wagon
From the nearest
Town.
It withstood tornadoes
And hail storms
And the
Dust Bowl.
It was thought to be
Haunted when
I was young.
The ghosts were
Raccoons.
My great grandmother
Was born in that
House.
They both are gone
Except in
Memory.
